Snow Leopard only has Ruby 1.8.7
A bit of a disappointment – I’d been hoping they’d go with 1.9.1.

Too bad. I don’t understand their choice either. They could even have gone for MacRuby.
Hopefully it will be the case for a release in the near future, and Apple will make it a first-class language for OSX development.

Well, I don’t think MacRuby is quite ready but endorsing 1.9.1 would have been nice, and kicked the community along a bit, something it seems to desperately need.
Oh well. Better than nothing. Now all we need is a compiler in the default install!
