This is great to see (more than anything because of the speed gains), but it’s not recommended for production use yet, so I wouldn’t get too excited if I were you.
“Best practice” is to play with it in a sand box:

“Best practise” is to not name a development version of software, not ready for production use, “1.9.0″ …
Hm, I actually think I’ll be able to use it pretty quickly. Rails edge will most likely be ready within a few weeks, which is also the timeframe I’d expect for mongrel + friends. If, like me, you adopt a very conservative attitude to the use of plug-ins then you won’t have too many sticking points to worry about.
